Motorcycle parts: from reference to a usable RFQ.

Start with the motorcycle make, model, year and part number, then add the installation position and quantity. A catalog photo is a starting reference; the mounting dimensions and exact variant still need confirmation.

Browse motorcycle parts by category

Choose a category to compare catalogue references. Share the make, model, year, market version, part reference, quantity and destination for a written review; exact fitment, specifications and availability must be confirmed for each request.

What identifies the correct part for a model and year?

Send both the vehicle details and the part details. Similar-looking brackets or covers can have different mounting points, and a model name alone may not identify the correct variant.

  • Vehicle: make, model, model year and market version if known.
  • Part: original part number, catalog reference and front/rear or left/right position.
  • Photos: a complete view, mounting face, mounting holes and the old part in place. Add a ruler or drawing for dimensions.
  • Review: ask for a drawing or sample comparison before treating a listed model as confirmed fitment.

Which material and dimension evidence belongs in the RFQ?

Record the requested material, manufacturing process, finish and dimensions as separate fields. Appearance does not establish alloy grade, tolerances or the result of a quality inspection.

  • Specify the required material or ask the supplier to identify it; attach an applicable material record when available.
  • State finish and color separately from material. Ask for a physical finish sample where the appearance matters.
  • Provide hole spacing, bore or thread size, thickness and the relevant units, such as mm; identify critical tolerances on the drawing.
  • Link any inspection or fitment evidence to the same SKU and sample revision. A generic certificate does not establish the specification of every part.

Engine-part matching examples: For a motorcycle engine oil sight glass, provide the installed-opening diameter, depth and sealing arrangement instead of relying on a displacement label. For valve cotters / keepers, compare the valve-stem groove and keeper profile, and specify whether quantity means individual halves or matching sets.

How should a small wholesaler request samples or a mixed batch?

Prepare one line per SKU with quantity, vehicle reference, requested finish and destination. Keep sample approval separate from the production order so changes can be resolved against the same reference.

  • State whether the quantity is for an evaluation sample, a trial order or a repeat batch.
  • Ask for the MOQ and sample terms per SKU. A mixed shortlist does not by itself confirm a mixed-order minimum.
  • Agree the sample or drawing revision and the inspection points before confirming the production specification.
  • Request a written quotation with goods, packing and any delivery scope identified separately.

Before approving a mixed order, use the supplier qualification checklist to keep identity, fitment evidence, sample scope and quotation terms tied to each order line.

What should a neutral-packing request include?

Define what must appear on the individual package and outer carton, then confirm the proposed packing against the selected parts. Neutral packing and labeling are quote-stage requirements.

  • Specify no-logo packaging, required SKU labels and any buyer artwork.
  • Identify surfaces or protruding parts that need protection and request a packed-sample photo.
  • Confirm pack quantity, carton dimensions and gross weight before arranging transport.
  • Keep destination, delivery scope and required shipment documents with the quotation.

Part-specific motorcycle RFQ guides

Use these checklists to prepare a focused inquiry. Include the motorcycle make, model, year and market version, the part or OEM reference, quantity and destination. Ask the supplier to confirm fitment and specifications for the exact item before ordering.
