Custom Packaging RFQ: What to Send for a Box Quote

To get a usable custom packaging box quote, send the box format, finished dimensions, material, artwork or dieline status, finish, insert plan, quantity and destination in one brief. These details let a sourcing team check the structure before discussing final terms.

Which box format should be named first?

Start with the way the package opens and supports the product. A folding carton, rigid magnetic box, drawer box, lid-and-base box, corrugated mailer and paper bag each require a different construction review. Browse the packaging formats and state one preferred structure plus one acceptable alternative.

  • Product type and how it will be packed
  • Opening, closure and display requirements
  • Finished length, width and height
  • Whether the box must ship flat or assembled

What material information is needed?

Give the product weight, protection needs and target look, then identify a preferred substrate if you have one. The VOBOM PRINT reference page lists rigid board with wrapped paper, kraft paperboard, art paper, corrugated board, specialty paper and lower-plastic paper or molded-pulp inserts. The final grade still needs supplier review against size, weight, shipping route and target price.

Use the materials section as a checklist, not as a fixed specification.

How should artwork and finishing be described?

Attach the artwork or dieline when available. If it is not ready, state the file status and provide a reference image. Separate printing from surface treatment so the quote can be compared accurately:

  • Colour system: CMYK, Pantone or both
  • Surface: matte, gloss, soft-touch or another requested treatment
  • Detail: foil, emboss, deboss or spot UV
  • Shape features: die-cut window, handle or special opening

The printing and finishes guide shows the fields to clarify before proofing.

What insert and quantity details affect the quote?

Describe the product contact points and how it will travel. EVA foam, sponge or velvet, paperboard dividers, blister and molded-pulp supports solve different protection and presentation needs. Include the number of pieces per box, total quantity, packing method and destination market.

Do not treat a reference image or a public display price as a final quotation. Material, MOQ, freight, lead time and delivery are confirmed after the complete project brief is reviewed.

What should the final RFQ message contain?

  1. Box format and finished dimensions
  2. Material preference and product weight
  3. Artwork or dieline status and reference files
  4. Printing, finish and insert requirements
  5. Quantity, destination and target timeline

Send these fields through the custom packaging RFQ form. The team can then confirm the structure, quote options, proof route and shipping review before any payment request.

Sources and evidence boundary

Evidence boundary: This guide explains how to prepare a buyer brief from the public reference page. It does not claim a fixed price, stock position, certification, customer result or delivery promise.
